How to create a Wi-Fi QR code

  1. Enter your network name (SSID) exactly as it appears, including capital letters and spaces.
  2. Choose the security type, which is WPA, WPA2 or WPA3 for most routers, and enter the password.
  3. Tick Hidden network if your router does not broadcast its name.
  4. Wait for Scan verified, then download and print the code near your entrance or reception desk.

Why making it locally matters

A Wi-Fi QR code contains your network password in plain text. A generator that processes it on a server can see that password. MeCard Plus builds the code entirely in your browser, so the password never leaves your device.

Where to place your Wi-Fi QR code

Put the code where guests naturally pause: a reception desk, a table tent in a café, the back of a meeting-room door or a welcome card in a holiday rental. Print it at least 3 cm wide at eye level, add a short label such as "Scan to join Wi-Fi", and keep it away from glare so phone cameras can focus quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Do Wi-Fi QR codes work on iPhone?

Yes. iPhones from iOS 11 and Android phones from Android 10 can join a network straight from the camera app.

What happens if I change my Wi-Fi password?

The old code stops working because the password is stored inside it. Generate a new code with the new password and replace the printed one.

Is it safe to print my Wi-Fi password as a QR code?

Anyone who scans the code can join, just as if you told them the password. For visitors, consider a separate guest network and print the code for that network only.
